On the Lighter Side – Lauretta’s Margarita Recipes

As the excitement to the OSIRIS-REx launch builds up, the Tucson community has rallied in support of the mission. Somehow my summer research program was leaked out – creating new margarita recipes! Every summer I embark on a new journey to create a delicious and relaxing drink. Several of the drinkeries around town have requested these recipes to feature during the launch celebrations. Here are the most recent concoctions from the past. Enjoy and let me know if you try them out!

Lauretta Margaritas are served in a large red-wine glass. For each recipe fill glass with ice then add:

2016 – Jasmine Tea-arita

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 oz. 1800 Reposado Tequila

2 oz. FruitLab Jasmine Liqueur

1 oz. Cote Jolie Elderflower Liqueur

Top off with China Mist Jasmine Blackberry Ice Tea (~2 oz.)

Garnish with lime wedge

 

2015 – Coconut Ginger Margarita

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 oz. Corzo Silver Tequila

1 oz. Ke Ke Beach Key Lime Cream Liqueur

1 oz. Drillaud Coconut Liqueur

1 oz. Domaine Canton Ginger Liqueur

Top off with Q Ginger Beer (~2 oz.)

Garnish with fresh ginger slice

 

2014 – Vanilla Margarita

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 oz. El Padrino Silver Tequila

1 oz. Ke Ke Beach Key Lime Cream Liqueur

2 oz. Licor 43

Top off with Virgil’s Cream Soda (~2 oz.)

Garnish with Vanilla Bean

 

2013 – Sangria-rita (Red and White versions)

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 tsp granulated sugar

Note: Heat lime juice and sugar prior to fully dissolve sugar

 

2 oz Don Julio Anejo Tequila

2 oz. Sweet Italian Red Wine (or white)

1 oz. Pure Red Grape Juice (or white)

Garnish with citrus blend – orange, lemon, lime slices

Note: For best results mix wine, grape juice, citrus, other fruit and let sit overnight

 

2012 – Cherry Margarita

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 tsp granulated sugar

Note: Heat lime juice and sugar prior to fully dissolve sugar

 

2 oz. 1800 Silver Tequila

1 oz. Edel Kirsch Cherry Liqueur

1½  oz. Pure Black Cherry Juice

1/2 oz. Grenadine

Garnish with Maraschino cherry
